Our Story

Toward the end of 2014, everything seemed to be going well for our little family.  We had just moved into our new home in American Fork, Utah, started a new job, and were expecting our second little boy the following May. Life couldn't have been better. Little did we know of the surprise that awaited us. In February, after a routine ultrasound appointment, we received a call to come back in and meet with a specialist. It was during this follow-up appointment that the doctor broke the news: “I’m so sorry,” she said. “Your son has congenital heart disease.”

That was the first time either of us had ever heard the term “congenital heart disease.” Now, over five years later, our little boy has undergone several open-heart surgeries, and has plenty more to come. Through it all, he has been the most courageous little fighter, a true warrior. As parents of a child with CHD, we wanted to have something to wear to help show our support for our son, and to help raise awareness of congenital heart defects. Though we were able to find several CHD awareness shirts online, we had difficulty finding any that matched our taste in style. It was this problem that ultimately prompted us to consider designing our own T-shirt. When we had finished, we thought “Hey – maybe other people might want some of these as well?” That’s when we decided to launch our site, CHD Warrior, where we offer trendy and comfortable apparel to help raise awareness of congenital heart disease.

We know that even if a T-shirt has a great message, it can quickly end up on the racks at the local thrift store if it lacks fashion and comfort. We wanted to make sure that our shirts were the kind that users would feel proud to wear time, and time again – so that raising CHD awareness would be more than just a one-time thing. Too many people have never heard of congenital heart disease. With the help of our CHD Warrior shirts, we’re determined to change that.
